MON CIRQUE

SSA prize (Swiss authors’ society) for audiovisual writing encouragement.

A full-length featured is planned.

A child leaves a run-down orphanage and hides in a truck to join up with his aunt, who lives in Switzerland. On the way, through the Alps, he is discovered by truckers returning from a humanitarian mission, who are really covering up an antiques smuggling operation. In order not to attract attention to their illegal business, one of them, Jay, is appointed to return the child “from whence he came”. Jay, though at first gruff and reticent, finally decides to help the child find the aunt. But she is nowhere to be found. Jay does everything in his power to make the child’s life seem “fabulous”, convincing everyone along the way to do likewise, through tricks, violence, but with great honesty, thus giving the child enough comfort and security to last a lifetime.
