CHRISTMAS ILLUMINATION Of the Grand Théâtre de Genève’s facade.

Projected on the façade, 2005
The challenge : a luminous Christmas-time intervention
I wished to paint the façade with chalk of every color. And to be able to change colors every evening…to do so, I needed projections. By using small swabs of color, I obtained the “chalk” effect. I then allowed my drawings to follow the building’s contours only to break it up into fairy-tale-like castle shapes.
These projections encouraged me to work on large surfaces mixing video and stills.

Printed on rear-lit canvas, June 2004
The Grand Théâtre’s communications department wanted to use the theatre’s façade to promote the 2004-2005 season.
With watercolors, I designed the inside of the theatre, which became visible through the windows giving on to the square in front of the theatre. The setup was greatly effective at night, when, thanks to the rear lighting, the illustrations appeared in great depth.
